End of Slides

A few months ago I had a little rant about having to make slides for gallery proposals.  It seemed like such a waste of time and money.  With all the work I've been doing trying to get my shit together I've noticed that almost none of the galleries want slides, or at the very least are willing to take  CD roms.  I'm not sure what set that off but it seems to happened in a matter of months.  Well what ever the reason it's certainly made things easier for me.

Slides are probably best for archival documentation of work but CD's are so much easier for sending out and, unlike slides if they don't come back it's no big loss

I've almost done all fifteen pieces now.  I've been working at my job job for the last few days so I haven't had time to take photo's yet.  I'll get some up in the next couple of days.

I've updated the site banner with work done this year.  I always meant to update it with work as I finished  but never got around to doing that.   Anyway the faces go along with the site title very well I think.

Howard: Yay for Canada! Galleries up there are apparently more on the 'cutting edge' than here in Washington State. Most still insist on slides for portfolio submissions. A few are now allowing a choice: slides/photos/digital (e-mail or on disk). I think we artists should be verbal about those that still insist on slides only. It's tough to find a photo lab that will develop slides locally - most are mailed somewhere else, and can take 7-10 days. I've missed out on a lot of shows, because of the slide requirement.

And Hey - great to see all of your new work! I really like these pieces.

P.S.: Love your new banner. It was the first thing that caught my eye - I'd been out of town for a week, and hadn't had time to catch up on my blog reading! Kewl!

To get digital files printed into slides cost $10.00 per slide here in Vancouver. A rather outragous sum when I can get them done online for a third the cost. I'm just glad I can skip the extra cost for now. I'd still like to have slides done, but I would want to hire someone to do it for me.
