Spontaneous Spring Cleaning

Maybe it had something to do with the beautiful spring like day we had here yesterday, but what started as tossing out a few odd items became a major spring cleaning.  Old crap that's been hanging around for years is gone and old books found there way down to the laundry room for somebody else to read.

The hardest part always is the sorting of failed projects and deciding what is to be thrown away.  a lot of last years work has been moved to storage and if I didn't use self restraint I would of tried to put everything into storage.

My first thought is that I might still finish the work.  That almost never happens.  Unfinished work will just sit in a corner collecting dust forever and the sooner I admit it the better off I am.

I know as an artist I'm suppose to hang on to everything in the hopes that one day if I'm famous enough people will be eager to buy anything I make.  That's all nice, but the hard fact is that I don't have room for everything and I need the space to be able to make new work.  In the end something has to go.

At some point I'm going to have to think about renting storage space for the work I do want to keep.  I think I can put that off for maybe another year or so, but now that I'm working on larger scale stuff  I'm going to have to start to worry about where I'm going to put it.
