Finished Work

Well here's the finished piece.

power ties.jpg

It's the best picture I have at the moment.  I'm having a bit of trouble with glare.  All that's left to do is  to varnish the piece.  I figure it'd be much harder to get a photo once it's varnished so I'll  have to get a better one before I do that.

I've just begun work on the second.  It's going to be a similar type of grouping, but I haven't given much thought to colour yet.  I'll get more work up as I go.

Here's a detail.

Unfortunately the surface doesn't come across at all in these photos.  The head above is sculpted.  The nose and mouth are not flat as they look here.  I'm not sure how I can document that.  Perhaps some pictures from the side might do the trick.  I'll have to try that tomorrow.

I'm very happy with how this one turned out and can't wait to get some more of them finished.

Howard - this piece looks great! Maybe if you try some different lighting as well as a different camera angle, you will be able to show the texture and relief. I'm looking forward to your next piece(s)!

I have gotten rid of so much art, you would not believe it. Every time I moved, I gave away at least ten fully executed paintings. ...only works on paper stayed with me often. It's Ok though... because someone has them, hopefully enjoys them. In your case, you work seems quite 3-dimensional, and so there's a real quandry. They take up space.

ps... there is an artist I think you would like a lot, lives here in PDX. Maybe I will send you some images? I showed her once at my old gallery, Lovelake.

Hi Eva, I've given work away in the past as well and I might have to resort to that again. I've got a couple of larger works on the go now and I've realized I'm going to run out of space really fast. The long term solution for most of the work will have to be storage at some point.

I'd really like to see the pictures. Feel free to email them to me.
