That last shot is great!
This guys work isn't anything like yours, but I like what he's doing with the low relief paintings. I have tried some landscapes using modeling paste but they never turn out very well, I have been thinking about using a jigsaw to cut out shapes to get away from the dreaded squares and rectangles.
What are your thoughts? I'm just thinking all over the place because I want to experiment more, try something different for me...but I have no idea what. ack!

You could try casting flat odd shapes in plaster, using wire mesh to reinforce it and embedding a wire in the back to hang them. The plaster would make for a nice surface to paint on.
