It's so painless to take as many photo's as you want till go get a good pic. The last one is my favorite too.

When I first got my digital camera I would take 2-3 hundred photos on a single outing...it's so addicting!

This guys work isn't anything like yours, but I like what he's doing with the low relief paintings. I have tried some landscapes using modeling paste but they never turn out very well, I have been thinking about using a jigsaw to cut out shapes to get away from the dreaded squares and rectangles.

What are your thoughts? I'm just thinking all over the place because I want to experiment more, try something different for me...but I have no idea what. ack!

It looks like those pieces are clay relief sculptures. When you say "get away from squares and rectangles" are you referring to the shape of the canvas? If so you'll have to think about how you will hang the piece and how to stop things like warping, but I see no reason why not. You could also try making your own modeling paste. Adding marble dust would really change the texture and you can find it at an art supply outlet.

You could try casting flat odd shapes in plaster, using wire mesh to reinforce it and embedding a wire in the back to hang them. The plaster would make for a nice surface to paint on.
