A Walk in the Park
Monday, April 2, 2007 at 05:54AM It's finally starting to feel like spring around here. Most of the signs that we had one of the most destructive winters in recent memory have been removed and the cherry trees in Stanley Park are in full bloom.
Of course once you enter into the park it's a completely different story.
Unfortunately the clean up from the storms we had back in December is going to take a long time. Some sections of the park were hardly touched by the winds while others look like a clear cut.
These pictures were taken up by Prospect Point where the worst of the damage is.
Views of the water exist where there were none before. I believe most of the remaining trees between the seawall and the park road in this area are going to have to come down. Numerous mudslides have come down in this area with all the heavy rain we have been having. Without the tree cover above the seawall this will probably become a yearly event.
And then you are back on the seawall, in the warmth and sun. Back to a beautiful spring day.
